Devices and systems in the aerospace and defense sector must meet the highest requirements - especially with regard to electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), product safety and environmental requirements. As an accredited testing laboratory, SGS offers a comprehensive range of testing and certification services to meet these challenges:

Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC)

SGS tests in accordance with the MIL-STD-461, RTCA DO-160, VG 95373 and IEC 60601-1-2 standards, among others, which define limit values and procedures for interference emission and interference immunity of electronic systems - from aviation electronics to mobile medical devices in the field.

• Measurements of radiated and conducted emissions and interference immunity
• Evaluation of shielding attenuation according to ASTM D 4935, IEEE 299, VG 95373-15
• EMC tests under special operating conditions (e.g. medical devices in a military environment)

Product safety

For systems in military, Civil or medical environments, SGS tests product safety in accordance with e.g. IEC 61010-1, IEC 62368-1, IEC 60601-1-12 and supplementary VG standards or WL sheets, among others.

• Testing of safety requirements for operation in aviation or defense environments
• Protective earth resistance, insulation testing, dielectric strength, leakage currents
• Testing of medical devices for emergency and outdoor use

Environmental Simulation

SGS offers tests in accordance with MIL-STD-810, RTCA DO-160 and IEC 60068-x to verify robustness and reliability. These standards evaluate the behavior of products under extreme mechanical and climatic conditions.

• Climate tests: Temperature change, humidity, air pressure
• Mechanical tests: vibration, shock, continuous load
• Special tests: dust, sand, corrosion, life tests (HALT/HASS)
