Corrosion testing for maximum material durability under real environmental conditions
Corrosion is one of the most common causes of premature material damage and functional failure. To reliably qualify components, coatings, and materials for their intended use, we offer corrosion testing with corrosive gases as well as salt spray testing in accordance with international standards.
Our test methods simulate real-world environmental conditions and enable a meaningful assessment of corrosion resistance.
Our testing infrastructure
- 12 corrosive gas chambers (volume: 0.2 m³ to 4 m³; single-gas up to 2 m³)
- Gases used: H₂S, SO₂, NO₂, Cl₂
- 3 salt spray chambers (volume up to 3 m³)
Corrosive gas testing
Single-gas testing
Targeted exposure to a defined corrosive gas enables reproducible material comparisons. Particularly suitable for metals, coatings, and electronic components used in demanding environments such as chemical plants, wastewater treatment facilities, and industrial halls.
Mixed-gas testing
Realistic multi-gas atmospheres enable application-oriented durability assessments for connectors, printed circuit boards (PCBs), and coated metals in urban and industrial environments, engine compartments, and coastal areas.
Salt spray testing
Continuous salt spray testing
Continuous, steady salt mist exposure enables fast, standards-compliant evaluation of protective coatings. Typical corrosion mechanisms such as pitting corrosion, undercutting of coatings, and white rust or red rust are reliably revealed.
Cyclic salt spray testing
Alternating cycles of salt spray, drying and humidity provide highly realistic test results. Ideal for evaluating automotive multi-layer coating systems, vehicle assemblies, and offshore applications.
Kesternich and condensation water test
SO₂ condensation water cycles (Kesternich testing) provide a standardized method for evaluating corrosion susceptibility. Particularly relevant for galvanized steel, electroplated finishes, and paint systems on facades, roofing, and industrially exposed environments.
