E-bikes, e-scooters, and hoverboards
The e-bike and e-scooter market is booming – and there’s no end in sight. At the same time, regulatory requirements continue to evolve, and e-bikes themselves are becoming increasingly complex. Keeping track of all the relevant tests and approvals can therefore be a real challenge. As a reliable partner, we support you in ensuring that both individual components and entire products meet the applicable standards:
- Safety testing for bicycles
- Mechanical strength and braking performance
- Electrical safety performance
- Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) – for complete bicycles and e-drive components
- Battery safety testing
- Charger and EMC testing
- Range and performance testing
- Assessment of functional safety for control systems and battery management systems (BMS)
The market in the US and Canada (NRTL and cSGSus)
As a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) for e-bikes, accredited by OSHA, we support you with all the relevant testing required for market approval in the United States. With our cSGSus certification, you also meet Canadian product safety requirements.
Regulations in North America differ significantly from those in the EU. With our cSGSus certification mark, which is widely used in the USA and Canada, you establish an excellent base for market access and enhance customer acceptance. As the first NRTL accredited to test products according to the ANSI/CAN/UL 2849 standard for electrical systems in e-bikes, we offer deep expertise in product compliance for the USA. This standard aims to prevent hazardous risks, such as fire, caused by failures in the electrical system of e-bikes and electrically power-assisted cycles (EPACs), thereby protecting people and property. Our laboratories test your e-bikes according to, among others:
- ANSI/CAN/UL 2849
- ANSI/CAN/UL 2272
- ANSI/CAN/UL 2271
