Energy Efficiency
Application of the EuP directive starts
Energy Using Product Directive (EuP) will be applied during 2009 within the EU region. The scope of the directive includes the whole life cycle of products starting from the very planning stage. The aim of the directive is to decrease the product’s impact on environment. E.g. energy efficiency, hazardous substances, recycling, noise and water consumption must be taken into consideration through the whole life cycle of the product. It must also be verified that the product fulfils the relevant technical requirements. As many other directives, the EuP directive refers to a Notified Body to ensure the conformity of the product. Besides EU also other countries elsewhere in the world have set or will set corresponding requirements.
